Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. You might not be sure where to begin, or even how to put what you’re feeling into words. That’s okay — you don’t have to have it all worked out.
Therapy is simply a space where you can come as you are.
A Warm, Flexible Approach
I offer a gentle, integrative approach to therapy in York, shaped around you and your needs. This means we can work in different ways, depending on what feels most helpful and comfortable.
My work is grounded in:
- Person-centred therapy — a calm, supportive space where you are truly heard
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — helping you make sense of thoughts, feelings, and patterns
- Creative approaches — offering alternative ways to express yourself when words feel hard
There’s no pressure to fit into a particular way of working. We find what works for you, together.
Therapy in York – In Person or Outdoors
If you’re looking for therapy in York, I offer:
- In-person sessions in a private, comfortable office space
- Walk and talk therapy — a more relaxed, outdoor approach that many people find grounding
Being outside, side by side, can sometimes make it easier to talk — especially if sitting face-to-face feels intense.
Online Therapy Across the UK
If you’re not local to York, or prefer the comfort of your own space, I also offer online therapy nationally across the UK.
Online sessions can be just as supportive and effective, while offering flexibility around your daily life.
Who I Work With
I offer counselling for:
- Adults
- Young people aged 11+
Sessions are always adapted to suit the individual. For younger clients, this may include more creative or flexible ways of working.
Trauma-Informed and Neurodiversity-Aware
My work is trauma-informed, which means we move at a pace that feels safe for you. There is no pressure to revisit anything before you’re ready.
I also bring an understanding of neurodiversity, including lived experience. This means I recognise that everyone processes the world differently, and therapy should reflect that — not try to change who you are.
You won’t be expected to fit into a box.
What You Can Bring to Therapy
People come to therapy for many reasons, including:
- Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed
- Low mood or depression
- Trauma or past experiences
- Self-esteem and identity
- Relationships
- Feeling stuck or unsure
You can bring whatever is on your mind — big or small. It all matters.
Moving at Your Pace
It’s completely normal to feel nervous at first. You might not know what to say, or worry about getting it “right”.
There is no right way.
We go at your pace, gently building a space where you feel safe enough to explore what’s going on for you.
Taking That First Step
You don’t need to have a clear reason or a perfect explanation to start therapy. Sometimes, just knowing that something doesn’t feel right is enough.
If you’re looking for therapy in York (in person, walk and talk, or office-based) or online therapy across the UK, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
