EFT Tapping: A Gentle Way to Release Stress and Emotions

At Jorvik Talking Therapies, I often work with clients who feel stuck—emotionally, mentally or physically. Sometimes talking helps, but not always on its own. That’s where EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can really support the process.

EFT is a simple, calming technique that combines gentle tapping on specific points of the body with awareness of how we’re feeling. It’s sometimes called “psychological acupuncture” (but without any needles!).

What Is EFT Tapping?

EFT involves tapping on acupressure points (like the side of the hand, under the eye, or collarbone) while focusing on a specific emotion, belief or physical sensation. We might use phrases like:

“Even though I feel anxious, I accept how I feel.”

The aim is to reduce emotional intensity, calm the nervous system, and allow stuck feelings to shift gently.

What Can It Help With?

Clients have found EFT helpful for:

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Low self-esteem
  • Stress and overwhelm
  • Trauma and grief
  • Neurodivergent overload
  • Physical tension linked to emotions

How I Use EFT in Sessions

I offer EFT as part of integrative therapy—online, in person, or outdoors in nature. We go at your pace, and I always check in to make sure it feels safe and comfortable.

You don’t have to “get it right” — I guide you through. You might feel calmer, lighter, or clearer after just one round.

Is It for You?

If you’ve found talking alone hasn’t quite shifted things — or you carry emotions in your body — EFT can be a gentle next step.

You don’t need to believe in anything “woo” for it to work. Just an openness to try something a bit different.

Ready to Give It a Go?

If you’re curious about EFT or want to explore therapy that includes both mind and body, I’d love to hear from you.
